Palms to Pines 2024

A Timeless Journey: 356 Club of Southern California’s Palm to Pines Drive

Nov 2024 – By Darcy & Karina Biagioni

The Southern California sun rose over a convoy of glistening Porsche 356s as enthusiasts gathered for the annual Palm to Pines Drive. This beloved event, hosted by the 356 Club of Southern California, brought together an extraordinary collection of vintage Porsche 356s for a scenic cruise from the Inland Empire’s rolling foothills to the desert oasis of Palm Springs, culminating in a special gathering at the modern Palm Springs Porsche dealership.

An Enthusiast’s Dream Drive

The event started early, with drivers and passengers meeting at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains. After introductions, a safety briefing, and coffee-fueled camaraderie, the engines roared to life. The 356, known for its timeless design and spirited driving dynamics, proved the perfect companion for the day’s route—a challenging yet stunning mix of mountain twists and open desert straights.

The Palm to Pines route is a favorite among Southern California driving enthusiasts. Winding through the elevation changes of State Route 74, the drive offers breathtaking vistas of the Coachella Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges. This year, the weather was ideal, with crisp morning air giving way to warm, sunny skies, enhancing the joy of top-down motoring.

A Community Celebration at Palm Springs Porsche

The day’s destination, the Palm Springs Porsche dealership, rolled out the red carpet for the arriving 356s. The showroom and parking lot were emptied of modern Porsches and filled with a vintage lineup that truly stole the show. Enthusiasts, customers, and staff mingled, marveling at the impeccable restorations, original survivors, and custom builds that made up the fleet.

The dealership hosted a catered dinner and set up a photo opportunity for each car against the backdrop of Palm Springs’ iconic desert landscape. Members of the club also had the opportunity to share their stories about their cars—whether inherited family treasures, painstaking restorations, or recent acquisitions.

Keeping the Spirit Alive

The Palm to Pines Drive is more than just a road trip; it’s a celebration of the Porsche 356 and the community it has inspired for decades. Events like these foster lasting friendships among enthusiasts and ensure that the spirit of these historic vehicles continues to thrive.

As the sun set behind the San Jacinto Mountains, the 356s began their journey home, headlights aglow and engines purring—a testament to the enduring magic of these classic cars and the vibrant community that cherishes them.

For those who missed this year’s Palm to Pines Drive, don’t worry—the 356 Club of Southern California has a full calendar of events planned, ensuring there’s always an opportunity to experience the joy of driving and the camaraderie of this special group.

Pink Parade 2024

2nd Annual BCIR Porsche Pink Parade was a great success! It was to raise awareness and fundraise for BC Cancer Foundation.

The ladies dressed in pink and met at Porsche Centre Kelowna for their car decals, snacks and coffee. Karina then led the group for a leisurely drive up to The Rise Golf Course in Vernon where they had a lovely lunch at the new Edge Restaurant.

Way to go ladies!

Any donation would be appreciated to help BCIR reach their goal:

Porsches in Paris at O’Rourke Family Estate Winery – A Day to Remember

Our Porsche Club Interior Region members recently gathered for a truly special event – Porsches in Paris, held at the breathtaking O’Rourke Family Estate Winery in Lake Country. Although the winery has yet to officially open its doors, we were given an exclusive tour of the facility, which promises to be one of the finest in the world.

The day was filled with camaraderie, stunning views, and, of course, our beloved Porsches. Members had the opportunity to explore the winery’s state-of-the-art production areas, picturesque vineyards, and elegant tasting rooms. It was a perfect blend of luxury and passion, set against the backdrop of Lake Country’s natural beauty.

As you browse through the photos from the event, you’ll see the joy and excitement shared by all who attended. From the gleaming Porsche line-up to the warm, inviting atmosphere of the winery, it was a day that will be remembered for years to come.

We look forward to many more events like this, where we can continue to celebrate our love for Porsches and explore the finest destinations together.

Stay tuned for more updates and future events!

South Okanagan Driving Tour

This Wednesday, July 17th, we had 17 cars set out for a scenic tour of South Okanagan. Unfortunately, the group driving down to Penticton from Kelowna was thwarted by a wildfire that blocked Highway 97 in both directions. Unfazed by this obstacle, the drivers turned around and took Highway 33 down to Rock Creek and on to Su Casa restaurant, where they joined the Penticton crew, who were able to drive the original route of the tour. Despite the change of plans, blistering heat, and unusually heavy traffic, it was a good day for Porsche enthusiasts.
