BCIR’s AGM 2021

BCIR’s AGM was sold out last night at Two Eagles Golf Course in West Kelowna. This year, the outdoor temperature was much warmer and we welcomed the new heaters. Great food and great people.

Congratulations to the winner of the Area 27 Track Day plus $500. service g/c generously donated by August Luxury Motorcars. Thank you to the members that travelled from Kimberley, Kamloops and Merritt. There were also a few members that stepped up into new positions on the BCIR board. We are still needing a president to have a successful season next year.

Kelowna Airport 30th Anniversary Photo Shoot

Thank you to one of our members for setting up this photo shoot with a plane in the background. They measured out so each car was the same distance apart. Then one of our members went up on a scissor lift and shot the image from above. In honour of BCIR’s 30th Anniversary, we tried to form the members into a 3 and 0.

Cars and Coffee, Fill a Frunk and Airport Shoot

It was quite a day! First we had a large gathering of members meet at the Porsche Centre Kelowna where they hosted our September Cars and Coffee. Then we went to the Central Okanagan Food Bank to drop off our donations and tour the facilities. A week later, Kamloops had their own Fill a Frunk for the local food bank. Thank you to everyone that participated and gave so generously!

BCIR Donated to Gold River Food Bank

Had dry roads and the few vehicles we came upon pulled over for us, waving and smiling. Not the one finger wave. We arrived on time for more food. Great service and food, thanks to the Owners and Staff at the Ridge Roadhouse in Gold River. To continue the VIR tradition that was started over 10 years ago of donating to the Gold River Food Bank, BCIR members (all 20) presented the food bank with a cheque and cash totalling $870.00. As this is the largest amount ever donated, now the challenge is on. VIR, CWR and even WWR and Polar are challenged to meet or beat this on their next visit. Listening to the lady accepting the donation was heartwarming and brought a few tears in some. Then time to continue the adventure. By the time I was mobile, I realized that there was no one behind me. Finally got rid of them. Strange feeling, as all had left smiling in anticipation of the ride back. After brief gathering where we started the day, all went their own way to our next evening stop. Upon arrival, a few where already resting.

Kamloops Cars and Coffee

Six cars from Kelowna drove to Kamloops for their Cars and Coffee last Sunday. It was quite smoky with limited visibility due to all the surrounding wildfires. The drive afterward had to be changed to Pinantan and Paul Lake as the scheduled drive was in the fire zone.
For lunch, everyone enjoyed a great meal at Moxie’s Restaurant. On the drive back on Hwy 5a, the smoke from the fire filled the sky and turned it into nighttime.

New Member and Social Event

BCIR had a big turnout for the New Member and Social event last night at Mid-Town Station in Kelowna! A beautiful night to chat with other members and enjoy some fabulous appies.Thank you to everyone that attended.
Next event is Kamloops Cars and Coffee followed by a drive on Sunday August 15, starting at Riverside Park at 10 am. Hope to see you there!

August Kelowna Cars & Coffee

Only twelve Porsches showed up to the Kelowna Cars and Coffee due to the inclement weather but we never got wet. Earlier, to everyone’s relief, we welcomed the long awaited rain to help combat the forest fires all around us.

Porsche Escape 2021

Last weekend Canada West, BC Interior Region and Vancouver Island Region all participated in a terrific event up at Sun Peaks Resort, outside of Kamloops!
40 cars participated in this sold out event. There were banquets, a show and shine, People’s Choice and Best of Show, a challenging tech quiz and a Hawaiian theme night. Did we mention the fabulous prizes…? There was also time to relax by the pool or take the chair lift up to the top of the mountain and hike among the colourful wildflowers.
The weekend drives and windup gala banquet were unfortunately cancelled due to a nearby forest fire. A big thank you to all of the organizers, volunteers and sponsors!! Looking forward to next year… 😎
